The Simplicity of a Poncho
Ponchos have a universal appeal, and for good reason. They are simple, elegant and forgiving of fit. Casual as well as looking dressed up, they can be worn with jeans, leggings and skirts.
We were in India two years ago, and were fortunate to visit the weavers who make this fabric. They are made of handwoven cotton by skilled weavers in India and are one of my best sellers. I was struck by the simplicity of the fabric they were creating, but also by the detail of the weave. Not knowing what I was going to design, I brought the fabric home and the inspiration for the ponchos came to me on my return. I decided to keep the beautiful selvedge edges intact.
This poncho fabric, reminded me of the classic Glen Check (otherwise known as a Glen Plaid) - a classic British weave. One side is a light blue and the other a soft brown.

The blue-checked poncho has a reddish-orange selvedge.

Delicate edging (selvedge) of warm red-orange colour.
Both ponchos are beautiful in their own individual ways.
